Brief description
Challenging, performance heavy role at an early-stage company (this is their 6th eng hire). They build tools that allow developers to build on top of conversation data from meetings, video calls, etc across a range of different platforms. Think something like a note-taker that joins meetings, a helper for sales teams that embeds relevant information directly into the video stream, or a meeting bot that times different sections of a meeting to keep it on track.
You'd be working on:
High-performance, real time code
Large-scale infrastructure (2M+ EC2 instances in the last month) processing high volumes of data (600 GB/sec of video at peak load)
Building the core product, from APIs to real-time video processing pipelines, owning major features from development to deployment and in production.
Operating and scaling video-processing infrastructure - each engineer maintains their own code in production.
Helping customers solve their problems. Everyone on the team participates in customer support so that they stay connected to users.
What they're looking for
4+ years of engineering experience, particularly with real-time, performance-critical applications
High workload: "You’ll have a ton of responsibility, and there’s always an enormous amount of stuff to do. Raw hours actually make a big difference in the impact we can make right now."
Customer empathy and a desire to work with customers directly and make product decisions
The ability to learn and be productive quickly in new domains
A background as a founder, especially for a dev-tools startup
Culture-wise, flat, high autonomy, very focused on finding really ambitious/highly motivated people (one of their explicit pitches is "come work for us and then go start your own company in a couple years").
What they're offering
Salary: 170k-220k
Equity: 0.2-0.35%
Growing rapidly (~4.5M ARR, 13x growth YoY)
Remote anywhere (though they prefer not EU-range timezones)
Rust, Django, Postgres stack, running on k8s on AWS
